Preparing for eyelash extensions
- Our lash technicians are experienced in a variety of styles, ranging from natural to dramatic, and can suggest safe and suitable options based on your preferences, natural lashes, and eye shape. We recommend that you find pictures of lash styles you like in advance, as this will help us create the look you desire.
- Clients are requested to arrive for eyelash extension installation and maintenance with clean natural lashes and no eye makeup. Although our technicians perform an initial cleansing, any remaining makeup can weaken the adhesive bond, compromising the durability of the extensions. Your cooperation is appreciated for optimal results.
- It is imperative to remove contact lenses from your eyes prior to the application and maintenance of eyelash extensions.
- If you have thin eyelashes and want to strengthen them, you can use an eyelash serum that is compatible with eyelash extensions.
When can eyelash extensions not be done?
- If you have an eye infection or inflammation in the eye area or eyelids, we cannot provide eyelash extensions for hygiene reasons.
- If you have been diagnosed with an allergy to acrylates or any other ingredients in eyelash extension glue, we regret to inform you that we cannot provide eyelash extensions.
- Eyelash extensions can only be applied to healthy eyes. If you have fresh permanent eye pigmentation or other open wounds near the eyes, these must heal before applying eyelash extensions.
- If you have a disease that affects your eyes or eyelashes, or have had eye-related surgery, please contact your doctor before applying extensions.
Pregnancy/breastfeeding
If pregnancy or breastfeeding is mentioned in the service's contraindications, the service cannot be provided.
- It is good to note that hormonal changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect, for example, the skin, eyelashes, nails, eyebrows, hair, etc., so if pregnancy or breastfeeding is not mentioned in the service's contraindications, taking care of yourself during pregnancy and breastfeeding is the customer's own decision and therefore the customer's responsibility.
Home care instructions for eyelash extensions
The function of natural eyelashes is to protect the eyes from dust, dirt, grease and sweat. Eyelash extensions glued to your own eyelashes easily collect them, which is why daily cleaning is very important.
You can safely wet your lashes the same evening after a treatment or service. However, please avoid taking a sauna for 24 hours.
- Clean your extensions 1-2 times a day with a cleaner designed for them. You can use a brush to help you clean them.
- Always clean your eyelashes, even after sweating heavily, swimming or crying.
- After washing, dry your lashes by applying light pressure.
- Always brush your eyelashes after washing them, when they are dry, and at other times if necessary.
- Maintain your eyelashes regularly, approximately every 2-4 weeks.
Avoid these with eyelash extensions
- Avoid using oil-based products near the eyes. Oil will weaken the adhesive
- Avoid using harsh cleaning products to clean your eyelashes. Facial cleansers often contain ingredients that are not suitable for extensions and can reduce the durability of your extensions, and their formulas are designed to be optimal for your skin's needs and to maintain skin moisture. Products intended for eyelashes are optimized for eye hygiene and the best possible durability of your extensions.
- Mascara should not be used with eyelash extensions.
- Heavy eye makeup use can reduce the durability of your extensions, as it can easily leave residue at the base of your lashes. Please make sure the products you use are oil-free and water-soluble; waterproof makeup should not be used near your extensions.
- Also, avoid excessive touching and rubbing of your eyelashes, and do not curl your extensions with eyelash curlers.
- Excessive sauna use can weaken the durability of extensions. Saunas should be avoided completely for the first 24 hours after installation or maintenance.
- You should be careful with cotton swabs and pads with eyelash extensions, as they can easily tear leave fibers on them.
Possible reasons why eyelash extensions don't stay:
- Lashes are dirty (makeup residue or oil) before application or the eyelashes bleed during application. In this case, the adhesive bond with the natural eyelash is not strong, and the fibers come off quickly after application.
- Poor washing, inadequate home care or home care with unsuitable products, as well as a cold, which causes a large amount of oil, dirt or sebum to be secreted into the eyelash roots.
- In the summer, durability may be weaker due to, humid air, sweating, swimming and sauna use.
- Some medications, antibiotics, illnesses (e.g. thyroid diseases), taking omega-3, biotin or other supplements that affect hair condition can change the quality of your own eyelashes and reduce the durability of eyelash extensions.
- Using oily products, using oily eye drops, wearing heavy eye makeup or mascara.
- Rubbing of eyelashes and tearing of eyes.
- Natural lashes with a glassy texture or oily skin can affect the durability of the lashes.
- Hormones (pregnancy, breastfeeding, birth control pills or other hormonal contraceptives, and stress) can affect the quality and growth of eyelashes and thus also the durability of eyelash extensions.
- Sleeping face down on the pillow.
- The growth rate of your natural eyelashes affects how quickly they regenerate. As your natural eyelashes grow, they shed continuously, causing your eyelash extensions to fall out with them.
- If the eyelash extensions have not been applied correctly or poor quality glue has been used (expired glue or used glue drops), this will affect the durability of the eyelash extensions.
- Installation conditions, such as temperature and humidity, affect the behavior of eyelash glue and the durability of eyelash extensions.
